KASEA

The Korean Academy of Scientists and Engineers in Australasia (KASEA) was established in Sydney on 5 December 2009 to promote the dissemination and exchange of knowledge and research results in relation to science, engineering, and technologies across South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. KASEA is organised under the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Korea (KOFST), currently consisting of 8 local branches (ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, WA, VIC and New Zealand) with Korean experts working at universities, research institutes and industry. Major organisational events are Young Generation Forum (YGF), Young Professional Forum (YPF), and Asia Korea Conference (AKC) on Science and Technology. Recently the 11th AKC was held in Sydney on 17-19 November 2023 with the theme of “Leadership in Science and Technology for Sustainable Futures”. 231 participants attended from South Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand. Among them, His Excellency Mr Wan-Joong Kim (Ambassador of South Korea), the Hon. Anoulack Chanthivong (Miniter for Innovation, Science and Technology in NSW) and Dr Cathy Foley (Australia’s Chief Scientist) delivered welcome/keynote talks and brightened up the occasion.

2012 – 2013: 2nd president (임삼성 교수)

2014 – 2015: 3rd president (박미라 교수)

2016 – 2017: 4th president (강병호 교수)

2018 – 2019: 5th president (박석천 교수)

2020 – 2021: 6th president (이미경 교수)

2022 – 2023: 7th president (한정훈 교수)

2024 – 2025: 8th president (배준석 박사)

2026 – 2027: 9th president (김태환 교수)
