President Message

Welcome to the digital home of the Korean Academy of Scientists and Engineers in Australasia (KASEA).

As we begin the 2026–2027 term, the 9th executive committee would like to express our sincere thanks and warm greetings to all members. It is an honour for the President to take on the responsibility of leading this respected community of science and technology professionals. With the continued support and encouragement of our members, we look forward to working together to further strengthen and grow KASEA.

Since it was founded in Sydney on December 5, 2009, the Academy has worked to promote research development and collaboration between South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Recognized by the Australian government as a non-profit academic organization, the Academy has grown to include eight regional branches and a strong network of more than 250 Korean experts working in universities, research institutes, and industry.

In a time of rapid progress in digital and AI technologies across all fields of science and engineering, along with growing challenges related to climate change, the scientific community is facing an important turning point. These changes require stronger competitiveness, closer collaboration, and a more connected research environment.

In response, the leadership for this term is committed to a shared strategic direction. Our key priorities include promoting active knowledge exchange in emerging and interdisciplinary fields, strengthening professional networks across Australia, New Zealand, and the broader region, and encouraging closer collaboration between academia, research institutions, and industry. At the same time, we place strong emphasis on supporting and mentoring early-career researchers and young professionals, helping them develop leadership skills and global connections. Through these efforts, we aim to enhance the Academy’s role and reputation within both local and international scientific communities.

The continued engagement and support of our members are essential to achieving these goals. The 9th President is fully committed to serving this outstanding community and to ensuring that the Academy continues to grow as an important platform for innovation, collaboration, and professional development in the years to come.

Sincerely,

KASEA 9th President Taehwan Kim
